Who needs ATV or snowmobile insurance?
A basic insurance policy for both ATVs and snowmobiles is mandatory for the majority of the Canadian provinces. If you are a resident of Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Yukon, Nunavut or the Northwestern Territories, we can help you navigate the required coverage for your off-road vehicle. Beyond legal reasons, insurance for your ATV or snowmobile can provide peace of mind during your outdoors recreation, as it can cover the costs of unexpected damages, as well as cover the costs of legal defense if you sued for causing injury or damage.
What does ATV or snowmobile insurance cover?
Generally, a minimum liability coverage is required. However, there are options available to you to extend your coverage beyond liability.
You can choose from several options including the following:
- Liability: depending on your level of coverage, liability insurance provides financial support if you are sued for causing injury to another person, or damaging property.
- Collision: Collision coverage includes the cost to replace or repair your vehicle if you cause damage to a vehicle in an accident that you are deemed to be at fault.
- Comprehensive: Comprehensive coverage includes the cost to replace or repair your off-road vehicle in the unfortunate event of fire, theft, vandalism and glass damage.
- Specified perils: Specified perils includes fire and theft coverage only. If you leave your vehicle unattended during trips, this is a recommended type of coverage.
